SCREENING AND ASSESSMENT
Identifying Needs
Screening and assessments are completed to determine if there is a need for services. It then helps identify goals and with the creation of a treatment plan.
The length of time that an assessment takes, depends on the type of assessment that is needed. If the sole purpose is to identify a treatment plan, then often a quick informal assessment is all that is necessary (i.e. to identify target speech sounds).
If a more thorough assessment is needed to identify a complete profile of strengths and weaknesses, this often takes longer. Standardized assessment tools may be used as necessary. These types of assessments compare the individual's performance to others the same age.
Assessment time ranges from half an hour to an hour (plus), depending on the complexity.
A complete assessment report is available on request (time will need to be billed for analysis and report writing).
